CONFLICT MANAGEMENT DIAGRAM

Situation 1: You are working on your research paper and you need to concentrate on it, but your brother plays his electric guitar despite you calling his attention many times.

THOUGHTS:

A. The noise from his electric guitar is going to distract me from working on my research paper.
B. My brother is going to stress me out because he is not listening to me.

FEELINGS:

A. Irritated
B. Frustrated

ACTIONS:

A. I will confront my brother and tell him that I am working on an important paper.
B. I will move to another place where it is quieter so I can work on my research paper.

Situation 2: Your teacher tells you that you that you have been selected as the representative of the school to compete for a division contest and this is your first time to participate in a competition.

THOUGHTS:

A. I am grateful and proud that I was selected as the representative of the school.
B. The thought of failing the competition and disappointing the school makes me feel overwhelmed and a little scared.

FEELINGS:

A. Nervous
B. Excited

ACTIONS:

A. I will use my anxiousness as a motivation to study harder and practice more for the upcoming contest.
B. I would approach my teachers and the upperclassmen for advice on how I can win the competition.

Situation 3: You are the leader of your group and while presenting the concept that you worked hard on the whole night, your ideas failed to impress your classmates and this upsets you.

THOUGHTS:

A. The feeling of not being able to satisfy my classmates makes me want to question myself on where did I go wrong.
B. Because of this, I am starting to doubt myself as a leader and a groupmate even more.

FEELINGS:

A. Frustrated
B. Anxious

ACTIONS:

A. I will ask my classmates for feedback in order to work on improvements.
B. I won't let this failure discourage me from doing what I think is best, instead I will make it an inspiration to do better next time.
