Discussion question 3

Processing Questions:
1. What kind of adolescent did the two students portray in the two situations?

    The two teens are in the middle of their adolescence stage. In this stage, puberty has passed and this is where the teenagers start to become concerned and curious of their appearances and what others might think of them. At this point, adolescents start to go through various physical, psychological and social changes. 

2. What challenges did John and Erica experience?

    Both John and Erica are facing cognitive psychological challenges. They are facing cognitive challenges because they are at the point where they become self-concious of their appearances and they make mistakes in judgement. John and Erica are also facing psychological challenges because it showed that they had a decreased tolerance for change.

3. What challenges do Filipino adolescents face most?

    I  think that Filipino adolescents go through the cognitive and psychological challenges the most. Most of us become very self-conscious at this age and that sometimes, being unable to accept the changes we go through at this stage and making mistakes in our judgement can be pretty nerve-wracking and stressful. Thus this leads us to cope in different ways. Some are good, and some are bad. However, these coping strategies vary, as well as the changes and growth of the adolescent, as not everyone experiences the same thing.

      Let us see how well you can relate to the situations given. Discuss how you behave when you encounter these scenarios. Scenarios Feelings/Emotion Action Results of Action You have a classmate who leads in making your classmates laugh at you. He also makes you feel that you do not belong their group. You always choose to ignore but this time you cannot stand it. I would feel sad and confused to why my classmate is doing this. I would try to collect my thoughts first before I confront them. Once I approach them, I would ask questions on why they continue to make fun of me and try to educate them about their wrongdoings.
