WEEK 5 - ASSESSMENT: I KNOW FACIAL CARE
ASSESSMENT: I KNOW FACIAL CARE
1. What are the 5 skin types and in your own words (based on your own understanding) explain each.
NORMAL
- it is neither dry or oily, and is also not sensitive; it is the most balanced skin type, with having no or minimal blemishes
DRY
- determined by its rough and flaky texture; it can be itchy and feel tight, which may cause further irritations
OILY
- it is characterized by a greasy, shiny appearance; this skin type is prone to acne breakouts due to the excess sebum produced
SENSITIVE
- it is more prone to skin irritations due to the different products applied to the face, even without the harsh chemicals
COMBINED
- it is the skin type that has a combination of dry areas and oily parts of the face; usually in this case, the T-zone is oily while the rest of the face is dry (most of us have this skin type)
2. What are the basic steps for facial care and explain each.
CLEANSING
- this process helps remove all the dirt, oil and unwanted material from clogging your pores; warm water is ideal for cleansing the face to refresh our skin
EXFOLIATING
- this means removing the layer of dead skin to get a smoother appearance and to help the moisturizer to settle on the skin; gentle exfoliation can prevent scratches, acne and other damages that can irritate the skin.
APPLYING TONER
- removes the remaining dirt and oil on our faces; it also helps close our pores and bring back the pH of our skin
APPLYING MOISTURIZER
- moisturizing your face helps hydrate the skin leaving it plumper and keep it from drying out; it also protects the skin from irritation
APPLYING SUNSCREEN
- this would help protect your face from the harmful UV rays of the sun and from wrinkling, aging, skin cancer, irritation, etc.
*It is still advisable to ask dermatologists to give the proper, recommended skincare essentials for healthier skin.
