WEEK 4 - Written Work

WRITTEN WORK: Answer the following questions in not less than 5 sentences each. Be specific with your answers and elaborate. 1. What were the most difficult challenges you have encountered in life? One of the biggest and most difficult challenges I have encountered was when I moved to United States of America. It was nerve-wracking and scary for me because it was a brand-new experience. It felt like I was going to have a restart in life since we lived in a very small town where we do not really know a lot of people. Because of this, I had encountered another challenge: my confidence and self-esteem dropped. I moved there during 8th grade, which is the end of middle school, which was hard for me since everyone in my school already know each other and it felt like I was the odd one out. Although I managed to finish the school year with some friends and good relationships with the faculty, I still kind of felt alienated because I was unable to catch up to the “trends” and “culture” of my ...

At this point, adolescents start to go through various physical, psychological and social changes.  2. What challenges did John and Erica experience?      Both John and Erica are facing cognitive psychological challenges. They are facing cognitive challenges because they are at the point where they become self-concious of their appearances and they make mistakes in judgement. John and Erica are also facing psychological challenges because it showed that they had a decreased tolerance for change. 3. What challenges do Filipino adolescents face most?      I    think that Filipino adoles...

WEEK 4 - Discussion 1-2

Discussion question 1 Situation No. 1 John is an active member of school organizations. He has a lot of talents to share and ideas to contribute to their club. Aside from that, he is known for his good looks, neatness, and tidiness. However, these seemingly likeable characteristics became the very reasons for rumors and gossips-- that he is a member of the LGBTQ+I community. This hurt him so much that he almost wanted to drop from schooling.     I think that this is sad, unfair and discriminatory because people should not judge one's identity through their characteristics. Personality traits should not be gender-specific or stereotyped as everyone can develop them. Stereotyping John just for having likeable traits that seem feminine does not indicate that he is gay. It is problematic that some people still think that men aren't allowed to be feminine and that women can't be masculine. Using the word "gay" should also not be used as an insult. Even if John is reall...

WEEK 3 - Discussion

Discussion question 1 What did you discover about yourself?      I discovered that I always feel negative emotions whenever the situation is about how other people would judge me, which shows that I am conscious and that I often rely on other people's opinions with regards to how I present myself. However, I do know how to stand up for myself when I am aware that their teasing or opinions about me are getting out of hand. Despite having a hard time trying to accept myself with a lot of imperfections, I still try my best to not let this thinking get in my way, as it will only drag me down. I also learned that I sometimes have problems regarding time-management and self-discipline, yet I am able to adapt to these situations and always try my best to make efforts and give time to my work and to people. WEEK 1 - Written Work

WRITTEN WORK  1. Who am I as a person?      Back when I was still a child, I used to be satisfied with whoever I was. It was not like I was pushing myself too hard, although I tried to work harder. When I started getting older, however, things changed. Even though there was nothing wrong, I started thinking about it. I started having issues with myself because of this.      At first, starting high school was not so great for me. I was not at ease getting out of my comfort zone. That time, going through a lot of experience, moving to a new country and coming back, it was very nerve-wracking for me. As time went by, however, I began to get used to the environment with my friends and family. It was not as serious as it was before, but I still had trouble trusting myself.      It was not until recently that I found myself as a strong individual. Although I was appreciated by others, I finally found the courage to really appreciate myself a...
